Broadway’s theatres may be closed until mid-2021 but there was great news this week with the long-awaited reopening of New York institution Joe Allen.
A trip to Joe’s has long been a must for a bite to eat after the show for audiences, cast and crew and a great social leveller, with A listers from Ethel Merman to Nathan Lane sitting alongside, well, just about anyone who wants to soak up the ambience of a place that’s been serving the theatre community for over half a century.
With Covid still around, adaptations have been made to keep diners safe and you can enjoy a meal inside, outside, or even for take-out!
It’s these small steps that will gradually see a returning confidence in the Broadway community and, before long, a return of the shows that have made the Great White Way a beacon of hope for the whole theatre world.
