Theatreland by Torchlight

The West End is haunted by some of the UK’s most famous spirits – come ghost hunting with us by torchlight – if you’re feeling brave.

Our tour begins in Leicester Square, just a few feet from the secret entrance to the house of 18th Century surgeon John Hunter, whose horrifying past inspired Robert Louis Stevenson’s demonic story of Jekyll and Hyde.

A short stroll past one of the West End’s most famous ghosts (and longest running musicals) the Phantom of the Opera brings us to one of our city’s oldest and most haunted Theatres, the Theatre Royal Haymarket. You might even glimpse the same ghost that Dame Judi Dench and Patrick Stewart have seen!

Sweeping through Trafalgar Square and along The Strand, we’ll see theatres where first world war soldiers still linger, where rat-catchers flee in fear and pass the stage door where one of London’s most celebrated actors was murdered in cold blood – his ghost still haunts the area.

Passing into Covent Garden, we’ll learn about London’s secret underground tunnels and “ghost stations” and take in the sights and sounds of one of the West End’s oldest theatre sites, Drury Lane, where you might encounter a grey lady – alongside the Fortune Theatre, home to London’s terrifying Woman In Black!

With Plague Pits, Poltergeists, Wizards and Exorcists, our Haunted Theatreland tour is sure to feed your inner ghostbuster!

Tours are in the open air and last appoximately 2 hours. Please wear comfortable shoes and dress for British weather.
